Tonight, residents living near the centre of Solihull were celebrating on hearing the news that the planning application to demolish 2 semi-detached houses and replace with 10 apartments with just 10 parking spaces at the end of Streetsbrook Road was thrown out for the third time of asking.
Speaking out for residents, local councillor, Peter Hogarth made a heart-felt plea to the planning committee to throw out the unwanted plans and uphold the wishes of the local people who attended the meeting in force.
Cllr Hogarth said: “There has been over three years of misery and uncertainty for local residents and they deserve this victory. I just hope, for the sake of the residents, this is he last we see of these proposals.”
Maggie Throup, Solihull’s prospective MP who also attended the meeting said: “This Labour Government is in denial that the problems of garden grabbing stem from their own planning rules. Conservatives will help local people protect the character of their area and give new powers to Councillors to allow them to stop garden grabbing ruining our neighbourhoods.”
