Maternity campaign leader Maggie Throup has welcomed the news that Solihull Maternity now will continue with a consultant-led service and paediatric cover until after the General Election.
 
Maggie said: “This is great news for expectant Mums who are getting increasingly anxious about where they would be able to deliver their babies over the coming months.
 
“I’m fully behind Conservative’s Health Chief Andrew Lansley stance on this issue. In a debate in Parliament only yesterday Mr Lansley stated that consultant-led obstetric departments and maternity units should not be closed, whilst they are safe, accessible and responsive to a continuing need.”
