Local MP highlights local business to Prime Minister

Erewash MP Maggie Throup highlighted local engineering firm Progress Rail at Prime Minister’s Question Time and how it had supplied its products to Transport for London. Over all, Erewash businesses have supplied products worth over £1.4 million to Transport for London in the last year.

UPDATE: Maggie Takes Immediate Action Over Sixth Form Closure

Following a constructive meeting this afternoon between Erewash MP Maggie Throup, Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy (OIEA) and the Ormiston Trust, it has been agreed that the Academy will continue to have individual conversations with the students and their parents, as well as other sixth form providers in the area, so that alternative personalised curriculum pathways are found.

Midlands Mainline Electrification back on Track

Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash, has welcomed the news that the work on the electrification of the Midlands Mainline will re-start. This is the result of a reassessment of the project by Network Rail Chairman Sir Peter Hendy and the Secretary of State, Rt. Hon. Patrick McLoughlin giving the green light.

Maggie Votes Against Assisted Dying Bill

Erewash MP Maggie Throup has voted against a Bill which, if it had become law, would have allowed a terminally ill adult to choose to be provided with medical assistance to end their own life.
