Maggie was part of the British Cycling volunteer team nominated for a prestigious local sports award at an Awards Ceremony.
The Breeze Champions excelled in the category ‘Community Volunteer Project’ for the Sports Awards 2013.
As a Breeze Champion, sponsored by British Cycling, Maggie is part of a team of ladies leading bike rides across the region, encouraging women to get back on their bikes and have fun.
Maggie said: “I got back on my bike three years ago and really enjoyed it. This made me want to help more ladies to do the same. It’s great to see our participants gain their confidence on two wheels and increase the distance they cycle.
“The success of the professionals such as Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and Chris Hoy has really inspired so many people to cycle again. It’s great to be able to provide a group environment for safe and enjoyable cycling.”
Maggie is also a Sky Ride Leader, reaching out to people of all ages to encourage them to get back on their bikes.
