Local MP Maggie Throup is to hold an urgent meeting with Borough Council Chiefs over the vandalism of a number of saplings in Long Eaton's West Park.
Maggie has arranged to meet Council Leader Cllr Chris Corbett, to press him for a solution to tackle the problem.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Maggie said:
"Erewash is proud of its green spaces and has quite rightly been recognised for them nationally, with both West Park and Victoria Park receiving the coveted Green Flag Award.
"This sort of mindless vandalism by a small minority is spoiling what our community has here at West Park, and it must stop now!
"I have therefore requested an urgent meeting with Cllr Corbett to discuss the matter, and look forward to working with him, together with our local Police, so that we can tackle this problem for local residents."
