Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash has been visiting a wide range of schools in her constituency over recent weeks to see how they had adapted their schools and been pillars of support for our local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I really enjoyed visiting Cotmanhay Infant and Nursery School, Chaucer Junior School and Friesland School to learn more about their amazing work during the COVID-19 pandemic and to hear how they are adapting their school environments in readiness for September.
“At Cotmanhay I was able to admire its Memory Garden, full of wonderfully painted pebbles and to experience the positive and uplifting environment.
“At Chaucer, I saw the Rising Strong Wall which has inspired so many and also heard about the plans for year bubbles in September.
“During my visit to Friesland I experienced first hand the meticulous planning being carried out to ensure all students can return to school safely in September.
“It was lovely to be able to thank all the teaching and auxiliary staff for their efforts during such difficult times and my thanks extend out to staff at every school in Erewash for playing their part in keeping our children safe during the pandemic.”
