Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash, recently popped along to a parliamentary event to find out more information about dementia diagnosis rates in Erewash.
At the drop-in event, hosted by the Alzheimer’s Society, Maggie learnt that the dementia diagnosis rate in Erewash is 70.6 per cent, which is above the national ambition.
Maggie commented:
“It was great to pop along to the Alzheimer’s Society’s drop in event and show my support for Dementia Awareness Week 2023.
“At the event I was able to get more information about the diagnosis rate in Erewash. I was pleased to learn that the dementia diagnosis rate in our area is above the national ambition.
“Nonetheless, everyone living with dementia deserves an accurate, timely, and high-quality dementia diagnosis so they can access vital care and support, and plan for their future.”
The national ambition for dementia diagnosis is that two-thirds of people with dementia should have a formal diagnosis.
To highlight regional variations, the Alzheimer’s Society have developed a traffic light system showing each Local Authority’s dementia diagnosis status. Erewash is Green. This means it is exceeding the national target that two-thirds of people living with dementia should have a formal diagnosis.
