On Monday, I had the opportunity to meet Erewash-based Atlas Composite Technologies at an event in Parliament.
The event, hosted by Composites UK, a trade body with over 380 members, aimed to promote the importance of the UK’s composites sector to parliamentarians. This sector has a turnover of £12.3 billion and provides over 48,200 jobs across the country. Atlas is one of the companies making up in the trade body.
Atlas, whose headquarters are in Ilkeston, has a reputation for manufacturing complex composite components for aerospace, motorsport, defence, satellite communications and space flight.
It was great to meet Ben and Grace who told me about Atlas’ plans for expansion as well as the possibility of providing more highly skilled apprenticeships for young people across Erewash.
I look forward to visiting Atlas’ site in Ilkeston soon.
