Maggie Throup OBE MP, Member of Parliament for Erewash visited Ilkeston Community Hospital to view the building works taking place that will expand the hospital’s Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).
Maggie successfully lobbied Government Ministers and helped to secure £5 million of funding to transform and upgrade Ilkeston Community Hospital’s CDC, which will offer Erewash patients access to a wider range of life saving diagnostic tests closer to home.
Maggie said:
One of my proudest achievements as the Member of Parliament for Erewash is securing Government funding to improve Ilkeston Community Hospital’s CDC. It was great to pop to Ilkeston Community Hospital and view the works to the CDC that are progressing extremely well.
Once completed, this one-stop-shop for checks, tests, and scans in the heart of our community will not only make services more accessible for Erewash residents but will improve outcomes for patients with conditions such as cancer and heart disease.
CDCs are instrumental in speeding up the diagnosis of serious conditions and I have no doubt that, once fully operational, Ilkeston Community Hospital’s CDC will benefit patients across Erewash. I look forward to visiting the new and improved CDC once it is up and running.”
Once completed, Ilkeston Community Hospital’s CDC will offer Erewash patients access to state-of-the-art diagnostic testing and Point of Care testing in Ilkeston. The CDC will be home to Derbyshire’s first open MRI scanner. Works are also taking place to improve the Phlebotomy services and X-ray equipment. The CDC is set to be completed and fully operational later this year.
