Maggie Throup has been returned to Parliament with an in-creased majority for the second time in just over 2 years.
Maggie, who lives in Ilkeston and has represented Erewash since May 2015 said she was "honoured" to have been given a renewed mandate by local people to represent their best inter-ests in Westminster.
Speaking shortly after the result was declared, Maggie said:
"May I take this opportunity to thank all those people who have again put their trust in me to represent Erewash in Parliament. It is truly the greatest honour of my life and I promise I will not let you down.
"Sadly over the course of this campaign we have seen our country, our democracy, our very way of life come under attack not once but twice by Islamist terrorism.
"By taking part in the election process, whether as a candidate, political activist, or a voter, we have shown evil can never win. Tonight is a true victory for democracy.
"Along with my team, I will now return to work with renewed strength and a fresh mandate to deliver for the people of Ere-wash, a community we are all proud to call our home, on the big issues including Brexit, antisocial behaviour, HS2 and overall transport infrastructure improvements."
