This week in Parliament, I intervened in a debate on digital exclusion where I provided a live example of how it is impacting Erewash residents.
Specifically, how Labour-controlled Erewash Borough Council are restricting a discounted price for brown bin collection to those who apply online only.
Responding to my intervention, a senior Labour Member of Parliament said he believed that services should be available at the same price to everyone, regardless of their digital access.
Additionally, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, Saqid Bhatti MP, said that tackling digital exclusion should be a priority for Labour-run Erewash Borough Council.
Let’s hope that Borough Council Executives were listening to the Government as well as to the Labour grandee and will offer the discounted price to every Erewash resident. You can view my intervention here.
