In conjunction with ‘Small Business Saturday’ on December 6th Maggie Throup, Prospective MP for Erewash launched the ‘Erewash Small Business of the Year 2014’ competition as part of her bid to get more residents to shop locally and bring more people back to our high streets.
Ms Throup said: “This Christmas I am calling on Erewash residents to shop locally as I continue my fight to bring more people back to our high streets.
“One thing is always clear when I speak to local residents, and that is they care passionately about our area. Over the past few months I've been working hard to help boost trade on our high streets, as well as being out and about supporting Small Business Saturday.
“As a businesswoman I understand that the only way to get new retailers to open new shops in our towns and villages is to prove to them that the demand is there from local shoppers.
“I’m also calling on residents to nominate their favourite small business in our area. We have a good range of shops, including independent bakers, butchers, cafes and florists and I’m sure there are many of these that deserve to be nominated.”
