At the start of the year the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, pledged to stop the boats that were illegally crossing the channel. On Wednesday evening, we moved a step closer to fulfilling this pledge as the Illegal Migration Bill cleared the final stages in the House of Commons.
Under the Illegal Migration Bill, if someone enters the UK illegally, they will be detained and removed to a safe country within weeks. Unfortunately, Labour voted against our plan to toughen immigration laws and stop the boats.
By voting against our Bill to stop the boats, Labour MPs have sided with criminal gangs and those who want to exploit the UK’s system and laws.
It has been quite a week for Labour MPs as they have also sided with extremist protestors and polluters.
