In repose to ongoing rumours regarding the future provision of services at Ilkeston Community Hospital, Erewash MP Maggie Throup is to convene a public meeting with senior NHS mangers to allay any fears over reductions to services.
The meeting comes after Labour recklessly claimed that the hospital was under threat, causing undue panic to spread across the community.
Speaking about the meeting, Maggie commented:
“As a former NHS worker, I understand how vital our hospital at Ilkeston is and will always defend the services that it provides.
“Despite the Government providing record funding and a long-term plan for our Health Service, Labour have sadly chosen to weaponise the issue, misleading residents over the future provision of health services locally.
“Not only is this shameless political strategy, but it has also caused a great deal of distress to both patients and staff.
“I want to ensure that people have the opportunity to question those responsible for manging local NHS services across Erewash and to see for themselves that these reckless rumours are simply untrue.
“I am therefore arranging a public meeting, details of which will be published shortly.”
