Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash has questioned the lead County Councillor responsible for the Ilkeston train station and expressed her frustration on its delay.
Speaking after the meeting Maggie said: “Like so many Ilkeston residents I am extremely frustrated over the ongoing delays to the new train station. We all knew that the old building was demolished in March, but then further activity had stopped.
“This had happened before and, along with the delay due to the great crested newts, the stop-start approach had raised questions of uncertainty as to the station’s future.
“At my meeting in County Hall, I got an update on the timeline for the coming months and the reassurance that, come next year, our new station would, at last, become a reality.
“I have asked for regular updates on progress and I am determined to hold the County Council to account on this issue.”
