Erewash MP Maggie Throup has welcomed the measures announced in this year’s Queen’s Speech, which were approved by Parliament on Wednesday evening (19th May 2021).
Speaking about the measures included in the speech, Maggie said:
“After an unprecedented year of hardship for local residents and businesses across Erewash, this Queen’s Speech is a clear statement of intent by the Government to address the legacies of the pandemic and level up our society.
“I particularly welcome the continued support for our NHS, including the Health and Care Bill, which will lay the foundations for a more integrated and efficient health and care system.
“The Government is also committed to delivering on our manifesto promise to reform Britain’s immigration system and make our streets safer through the passage of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.
“At its heart is a clear plan to improve life chances through the introduction of the lifetime skills guarantee as well as promise of new green jobs to boost the economy.
“Whilst there are still undoubtably tough days ahead, the Government’s mission to spread opportunity across the country, means that we can look forward to a legislative agenda which will truly build back better and level up.”
