A local charity which supports homeless men across Erewash welcomed VIP visitors.
The Rt Hon Chris Grayling, Secretary of State for Justice, along with Prospective Conservative MP Maggie Throup visited The Canaan Trust recently.
Maggie Throup said: “The Canaan Trust is an amazing charity supporting local men to get their lives back on track by giving them a roof over their heads, as well as support and advice in so many ways.
“I was delighted to be able to introduce Chris to this charity as I’m a great supporter of its work.”
Justice Secretary Chris Grayling said: “It’s obvious that the team are making a real difference for a group of people who need really careful support to turn their lives around. It’s really the voluntary sector at its best.”
The Canaan Trust was formed in 1995 and provides 24-7 supported accommodation for homeless men. Each year it holds a ‘Sleep Out’ to raise money to support its work.
