Speaking with Erewash residents, I know many want to buy high-quality British food, however find it difficult to identify where their food comes from and how it is produced.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is seeking views on proposals for fairer food labelling which will ensure greater transparency around the origin of food and the methods of production, helping consumers make decisions that align with their values. The creation of labels will also help back British farmers as it will allow consumers to identify and buy their high-quality produce.
The Government’s consultation on fairer food labelling will run for eight weeks, closing at 23:45 on 7 May 2024. It can be accessed online here.
